The New Flood Warning Service – we need your help

The Environment Agency has delivered a flood warning service for England for almost 30 years. The service provides over 1.6 million people with real-time flood warnings and alerts.

The EA is improving its flood warning service in 2025, and we need volunteers to test it before we launch the new service to the public.

We are making these improvements to ensure that our flood warning service remains resilient and effective for the next decade. By taking part, you will:

  • Be among the first to try the new service
  • Help ensure it works for people like you
  • Make flood warnings better for everyone
  • Influence how it develops

What will it involve?

It’s simple to take part – we will send you a link to the private service where you can complete a test registration. We will then send you a small number of test warnings and alerts and ask you for feedback.

Who do we want to take part?

We’re looking for a range of users to test the new system, including:

  • Flood wardens and Community Action Groups
  • The public: if you’re signed up for flood warnings already or not
  • Businesses and organisations of different scales
  • Emergency responders and public sector partners

Please feel free to distribute this to others in your community who may be interested.

What do you need to do?

Let us know that you’re interested in taking part by filling in our Expression of Interest form and we will be in touch.

When is this happening?

Testing will take place between February and May 2025.
