August Update

The Parish Council monthly meetings take place at the Collingham Youth and Community Centre. The public are welcome – joining details on parish noticeboards or from the Clerk. The next meeting is on the 22nd August 2024 6.30pm, with meetings held on the fourth Thursday of the month.

Neighbourhood Plan

We have begun the preparation of multiple focus groups, we will be posting updated on our notice boards and social media. Anyone who has already expressed a direct interest will be contacted in due course.

Dog Poo – While most dog owners are caring, responsible individuals, there are still some people who do not clean up after their pets.  Please clean up after your dog.

Parish Councillors – Our Councillors Laurence and John have been working hard to maintain areas such as The Cross, and The Parish Field in the village that have become overgrown. If you spot any areas that need attention, please get in touch.

Spring Garden Competition – We are delighted to be running the Spring Garden Competition within the Village. Any garden can enter, whether it’s a small garden to a large garden, all entries our welcome. We will post more updates on this soon.

The Collingham Show – The Collingham Show will be back on Saturday 21st September 2024 by kind permission of the Sheldon Family. There will be dog show, main ring events and many other attractions for you all to enjoy! Traditional agricultural events such as ploughing and plashing, vintage tractors and vehicles as well as exhibits from home grown produce to children’s artwork. This will be the 170th Collingham Show which is an event for all the family. Tour of Britain – The Lloyds Bank Tour of Britain Men prepares to return to the region for the first time since 2007. The route of this year’s eagerly anticipated Tour of Britain has been fully announced, with the international race set to return to the streets of Newark and Sherwood for a fourth time.

Racing along the 86 mile route outside of the Derby Arena, in Derby, before passing through rural Derbyshire and entering Nottinghamshire at Eastwood. Riders will travel through Hucknall, Ravenshead, and Blidworth, finding familiar surroundings on the roads of Southwell, Caunton, and Tuxford, before crossing the River Trent and heading south.

Collingham marks the start of a sprint section, setting up an exciting end to a day of racing with riders powering through Coddington and down to the finish line at Sconce and Devon Park in Newark.

The stage is expected to finish between 14:13 and 14:52, with estimated route timings to be published in due course.
